What Causes “Err_Spdy_Protocol_Error” on Chrome?

As I said previously -it mostly affects users who use Google Chrome as their default Internet web browser. Other than that, if you are using other similar featured browsers such as Safari, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, or, Internet Explorer, etc. you probably have never experienced this type of error.

Typically, “ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERROR” page is shown when the SPDY Protocol is not working properly and unable reach to the site’s end. That may be some errors in your PC’s network configuration, Installation issues, or an unwelcomed- Machine generated Error.

If there is a failure in connection to the server in the back-end of the PC-to-Internet process, often this error appears as a warning.

This is how your Browser loads and displays a web page technically:

  • When you enter an URL into your address bar or click a link, your browser sends a request to the website’s web server.
  • The server responds – the page, and its supportive files are subsequently downloaded.
  • Then the Browser compiles the downloaded page resources to complete the web page.
  • After this, the browser renders (displays) the entire website becomes visible to you.

Each of the above steps is interlinked to another. So, if there is an error processing any of the steps, the web page breaks loading in the middle, even at the first stage. This may show you a warning like ‘err_spdy_protocol_error.’
